I guess you could say it's old fashioned. In this age of of brilliant technology a lot of bands and solo performers are stay free of high studio costs by sending tracks recorded in their home studios. Aerosmith's Brad Whitford prefers to layout a song in a live situation. It's the way Aerosmith put the majority of their classics together. Why bust a hole in the side of a working machine?
