In this episode the 12 princes of the 12 tribes brought offerings to the tabernacle. They brought to the Lord, rams, oxen, goats, gold spoons, silver chargers, incense and wagons.

And these were consecrated and distributed to the Levites according to their service.

The tribe of Gershon received 2 wagons and 4 oxen.

The tribe of Merari received 4 wagons and 8 oxen.

The tribe of Kohath received 0 wagons and 0 oxen.

We note that it seems as if the Kohathites should have received at least one wagon, since the other ministry teams received wagons.

However, they did not need a wagon or wagons to do their work so God did not given them one.

John said, in John chapter 3 verse 27, that a man can receive nothing except it be given to him from heaven.

It was determined in heaven that the Kohath's didn't need wagons, so they didn't get any.

Yet, it seems as if, sometimes we see others in ministry or everyday life with things and we want them but God may not give them to use because we don’t need them to do the work or live the life he has given us.

Quite often we want or require more than we need to live or more than God wants to give us to do our work.

But God knows exactly what we need and distributes what we need according to his sovereign plan and divine will.

If we are determined to ONLY do the work God wants us to do or live the life God wants us to live, we will not desire or covet things he chooses not to give us.

If we insist on getting things we don’t need, we may find ourselves in error. And end up not doing the work God has given us to do, or not doing it the way he desires.

Which would be a grave error because although they received no wagons or oxen, their work was the most holy.

The sons of Kohath, were chosen to bear the ark and the holy vessels.

They carried the ark and stood in the Jordan river and the waters rose up and the people walked through the Jordan river on dry ground on their way to Jericho.

They received no oxen or wagons but they were used to demonstrate the power of God because they bore the holy vessels.

We note that after the princes brought the offerings and the vessels to the tabernacle, they were dedicated to the Lord.

When something is dedicated to the Lord. It is separated and consecrated for a special purpose and specific use. If the item is used for any other purpose it becomes defiled.

Scripture says, we are vessels of the Lord, called and separated unto him for a special purpose.

So as vessels of the Most High God we cannot be used for various purposes. We are to be used by God alone, doing his will alone.

James said a fountain can't spew sweet water and bitter water. A fig tree doesn’t produce olives, and salt water doesn’t yield fresh water.

And Jesus told the disciples to choose, either make the tree good and his fruit good or make the tree corrupt and his fruit corrupt.

Paul said, there are different types of vessels in God’s house. Some made of gold, some of silver, and some of wood or clay.

And we must choose what type of vessel we will be.

He notes that some had been ensnared by the devil. They had become unsuitable vessels but if they kept themselves from certain things they could be purged and delivered out of the devil's snare.

So it is up to us, Will we be highly valuable vessels like gold and silver or will we be vessels made of wood and clay?

Here's the text:

2 Timothy 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonor.

2 Timothy 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2 Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

2 Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

2 Timothy 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
