In this episode we continue studying the book of Numbers. In this episode, the Levites were given specific jobs pertaining to the tabernacle.

God said, the Levites were given to Aaron and his sons to do the service of the tabernacle.

Moses was told to present the tribe of Levi to Aaron the priest, so they could minister to him.

They were “wholly given unto him out of all the children of Israel.”

So the Levites, were given charge of all the instruments of the tabernacle, AND the charge of the children of Israel.

God has given the church, the saints to Christ, to minister unto him and to do the service of the sanctuary.

The saints are wholly given unto him.

They have charge over the sanctuary AND the people under the direction of Christ.

God rebuked the Levites in Malachi chapter 2 for not properly fufilling their charge over the tabernacle and the people.

In the text, the Levites were told they are His messengers.

They were supposed to have knowledge, the law of truth was supposed to be in their mouth, to turn people away from iniquity.

But the law was not in their mouth because they were partial to the law, so many people stumbled at the law.

He said, they were saying whoever doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord and that the Lord delighted in them.

The priests were in error, the people were in sin. How could they tell the people, they still had the favor of God on their life?

God loved his people but he was not pleased with them. This was proved when he chastised them.

So God said in Hosea chapter 4 verse 6, that his people were destroyed for lack of knowledge.

The priest were supposed to teach the people the laws of God.

They were supposed to teach them how to discern the difference between holy and profane, clean and unclean, good from evil, right from wrong.

But they could not discern the difference. So in Malachai chapter 3, God said, he would send someone else.

Someone who would delight in his laws and obey them.

He would purge the Levites, and make them acceptable to God again.

This person was Jesus the Christ. He selected a group of men and taught them the ways of God.

He gave them charge over the church and everything that pertained to it.

He told them the gates of hell will not prevail against the church.

And before He returned to his throne in heaven, He charged them to go, to all nations, to teach them, what he had commanded them.

The charge remains the same.

Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
