In this episode, God met Balaam and put a word or words in his mouth. Words the text called parables.

In the first parable, Balaam asked Balak how could he curse whom God had not cursed and how could he defy whom the Lord had not defied?

Then he said, who can count the dust of the earth and number the 4th part of Israel? Let, me die the death of the righteous, let my last end be like his.

Through Balaam God addressed the after life of a righteous person. Jacob's descendants will be as the dust of the earth because of the 4th part of Israel.

Abraham was the first part, Isaac was the second part, Jacob was the third part and Jesus is the fourth part.

Whoever believes in the fourth part of Israel, will be reckoned or counted as righteous and their last end will be blessed.

In the second parable, Balaam told Balak he received a commandment to bless and he could not reverse it.

He also said, God had not beheld iniquity in Jacob nor had He seen perverseness in Israel.

Balaam knew all about Israel's murmurings and rebellious behavior in the wilderness, so he probably wondered how could God say, he beheld no iniquity or perverseness in his people.

He did not know that God beheld no iniquity in his people because he had pardoned their iniquity.

He had forgiven them. So the people were free to go on and inherit the promised land.

Since God had pardoned their iniquity and perverseness, he would not let Balak prevail against them.

Websters says, pardon means forgiveness, the release of an offense or of the obligation of the offender to suffer a penalty, or to bear the displeasure of the offended party.

God did not let Satan prevail against us. God refused to behold our iniquities and perverseness. He chose to pardon us, so we can inherit the promised land.

As time went on, Balak appeared to become frustrated with Balaam and told him neither curse the Israelites or bless them.

So Balaam said, I told you, I have to say whatever the Lord tells me to say.

Although, Balaam wanted to curse the Israelites for money, he refused to do it. And Balaam didn't understand why.

During their interaction with God, Balaam and Balak will learn God doesn’t think like man. His thoughts and ways are higher than man’s.

He made a promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He promised to give their descendants the land of Canaan and Balak's land is a part of that land.

He made a promised to them, and he’s going to keep it. Once his word goes forth, it doesn’t return to him void.

So they may think the Israelites, don't deserve the land. But that’s not for them to decide.

The land, the whole earth belongs to God and he decides who gets the land. That line of thinking may be hard for man to understand. But God makes mention of this fact in Jeremiah chapter 27 verse 5.

Here's the text:

Jeremiah 27:5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

We will be happier, if we accept God’s dominion over the earth. Because His will, will be done on earth, whether we like it or not. God created man. Man is a created being, subject to the one who created him. The wise will acknowledge this fact and align themselves with God and let God's thoughts become their thoughts.

Balaam is off to a good start, he's only spoken God's word, now if only his thoughts about Israel could become like God's thoughts, he will avoid sinning against God and his people.

In Isaiah chapter 55, God speaks about his thoughts and ways. They are higher than man’s thoughts and ways. He said, snow and rain falls from heaven, to the earth, and cannot return to heaven, it is impossible for rain and snow to go up, once released from heaven, they must fall down and do what he sent them to do.

God made a promise, he released a word from heaven to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, it must be fulfilled. Balak should be afraid, because the word has gone out. His land will be given to the Israelites. If he were wise he should do what the Gibeonites will do and that is surrender to the Israelites. At least he would live and not die.

God had the prophet Isaiah remind us about his thoughts and ways.

Here's the text:

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
