In this episode God responds to the people's murmuring against Moses and Aaron by causing Aaron’s rod to blossom.

Aaron’s rod was placed amongst the rods of the 12 princes of Israel. Aaron's rod blossomed and produced almonds proving God had chosen him and his sons to be the nations priests.

By doing this God caused the princes of Israel to stop grumbling against Aaron and Moses.

Apparently the people and the princes were still grumbling against Moses because,
they found it hard to believe, God would let one man and his brother rule over an entire nation.

Yet, those things, foreshadowed things to come. God would make Christ ruler over all his house.

He is God’s High Priest and King, confirmed by Jesus who said in Matthew 28 verse 18, that “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

Korah stirred up doubt and unbelief amongst the people. So, they began to question the motive behind Moses' decision to bring them out of Egypt, saying he brought them out of Egypt to be a prince over them. And that’s why he didn’t take them into the promised land. They began to wonder if everything he said, really came from God.

We note that Christ had the same problem. He was also given the task to tell people everything God told him to say and He too was challenged. They also questioned his motives about the things he did, but the only motive He had was to do His fathers will. Like Korah and his followers, the Pharisees rejected Christ, because they were holy too.

The people that rebelled against Moses and Aaron were judged immediately. Thousands followed Korah to the grave that day.

Yet, many deny Christ, but they aren't judged immediately. Because of God’s great mercy, under the New Covenant, He doesn’t immediately punish people for rejecting Him or for breaking his commandments.

Because Jesus said, He did not come to judge the world but to save the world. And whoever rejects Him and His word, He doesn’t judge them. The word will judge them on the last day.

A wrong doer will be judged according to the word, called God’s laws, commandments, statutes and judgments.

Mercy will still rule on judgment day because Christ is merciful and he can see through our hearts and will determine, if we sinned in ignorance or out of deliberate rebellion and rejection of Him and His laws.

In John chapter 12 verses 46 through 50 Jesus speaks about the word being our judge.

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Jesus came to tell us everything the Father told him to say.

He died to deliver us from a spiritual Egypt and a spiritual bondage to sin.

Many rebels died in one day because they believed the words of the wrong man, they could have believed Moses but they chose to believe Korah.

We have chosen to believe Christ, that everything he told us came from God. We believe the scriptures, Old Testament and New Testament are the pillars and foundation of truth and if obeyed we will inherit eternal life.

Peter told believers that since we have been purchased by the precious blood of Christ, we should spend our short time on earth seeking to live holy lives because God is not a respecter of person.

He will without a doubt reward each person according to their works and since this is the case, we must purify our soul by obeying the truth, this way we will be born again.

Because Jesus said, except a person is born again, he or she cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3).

Here's the text:

1Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

1Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

1Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

1Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1Peter1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

1Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

1Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
