In this episode we continue studying the Book of Leviticus. In this episode Aaron and his sons are consecrated before the entire assembly at the door of the tabernacle.

Two rams were slain for the consecration service but before the rams were slain, Moses washed and clothed Aaron and his sons with holy garments.

The coat, robe, curious girdle of the ephod and the breastplate, were bound upon Aaron, and he added the Urim and Thummim to the breastplate.

The Urim and the Thummim were two stones the priest would use to make proper judgments.

These two stones represent knowledge and wisdom that comes from God’s Holy Spirit, who knows and sees everything.

We note that Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, knew the hearts and minds of everyone. He could read thoughts and knew what was in peoples hearts, and He often corrected wrong thinking when necessary.

When the disciples were reasoning among themselves about who should be the greatest. The text says, Jesus perceiving the thought of their heart, taught them a lesson.

Here’s the text:

Luke 9:46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

Luke 9:47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

Luke 9:48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

Because of the gift of the Holy Spirit the apostles will be able to perceive the truth or know the thoughts and hearts of men when necessary.

In Acts chapter 5, when Ananias and Sapphira lied about the selling price of their land. The Holy Spirit revealed it to Peter.

Who said to Ananias, “Why has Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land.” “You haven’t lied unto men but unto God.” Ananias and Sapphira lied that day to the Holy Spirit, and they fell dead that day, right at Peter’s feet.

In Act’s chapter 1,the Holy Spirit helped the apostles choose Judas’ replacement.

And in Acts chapter 15, we are told that the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost helped the apostles draft doctrine for Gentile believers who were being led to believe they needed to be circumcised and to keep other Jewish laws to be a believer or to be saved.

So the apostles wrote letters telling them, that it seemed good to them and the Holy Ghost, to lay upon them no greater burden than these necessary things.

They were to abstain from meats offered to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. And if they kept themselves from those things they would do well.

We note that Aaron and his sons were required to remain at the tabernacle for 7 days and 7 nights after the consecration service.

The consecration service took place at the door of the tabernacle, the place where God resided. There they were sanctified, consecrated, and reconciled unto the Lord.

Jesus is the door or access point into the presence of God. By Him, we are sanctified, consecrated and reconciled to God and become citizens of heaven.

We are also reminded of the fact that the Bible, its stories and accounts were written so we will know there is a God and His word is true.

Jesus warns us not to reason with these words and know for certain that theses things are true. And He tells us without a shadow of doubt, that no man can come unto the Father but by Him.

Here’s the text:

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

John 14:5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
