In this episode we continue studying the book of Leviticus. In this episode laws regarding the feasts are given.

The people are reminded to keep the Sabbath, Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, The Feast of Firstfruits, the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Booths.

We note that the Feast of Trumpets is a very special day. We are told in the book of Deuteronomy that the day would come when the priest will make silver trumpets and blow them over the sacrifices on solemn occasions.

Blowing trumpets over the sacrifices, pointed to the resurrection of Jesus after the crucifixion.

Resulting in the resurrection of the children of God as pictured by the Feast of Booths.

The people were commanded to keep the Feasts of Booths because God wanted them to be reminded of the fact that he made them dwell in booths when he brought them out of Egypt.

Leviticus 23:43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

We note that this is what God has done for all mankind. That after we sinned, God made us dwell in booths or temporary bodies.

These temporary bodies or tabernacles are houses for our soul.

The soul lives in a body or tabernacle on earth for a short time, then the body is taken down. The person dies and the soul or the ghost leaves the tabernacle or the booth.

We are told that Abraham gave up the ghost and died in a good old age, Ishmael gave up the ghost and died, Isaac gave up the ghost and died, Jacob yielded up the ghost and when Rachel’s soul departed, she died.

Job wondered why he didn’t give up the ghost and die when he came out of his mothers belly.

So to die is to give up the ghost, the soul departs or leaves the body.

Where the ghost or spirit goes after it leaves the body depends on the persons standing with God.

Jesus told a parable in Luke chapter 16 verse 22 about a beggar and a rich man.

He said, the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom, the rich man also died and was buried and lifted up his eyes and being in torments, asked Abraham to send Lazarus with a drop of water to cool his tongue because he was tormented in flames.

So when those who are in right standing with God die, they are carried to heaven by angels that have been assigned to them but the wicked descend into hell.

There is only one way to be in righting standing with God and that is to believe in the one He sent.

Jesus and God are one, Jesus said, if you’ve seen me you’ve seen the father. The two are in agreement, that no man can come to God the Father but through Christ the Son.

Revelation Chapter 14 Verse 13 says, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, yea, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them."

The Feast of Booths points to the great day that Paul speaks about in 2 Corinthians Chapter 5. There he makes mention of our bodies being, houses and tabernacles that will be replaced by a heavenly house or tabernacle.

One that comes from heaven. One that’s guaranteed by the gift of the Holy Spirit. He said the Holy Spirit is the earnest.

Earnest means pledge, down payment, or security deposit.

The Holy Spirit is the down payment on our new house that will house the soul after our earthly body or house is taken down by death. He said we are confident in this by faith.

Here the text:

2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2 Corinthians 5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

2 Corinthians 5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

2 Corinthians 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

2 Corinthians 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
