In this episode we continue studying the Book of Genesis. In this episode we learn about the nations that came from Noahs sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.

In the last chapter we learn that Ham's line was cursed but Shem and Japheth's line was blessed.

In this chapter we learn that from Ham's line came notable sons and grandsons. They are the Egyptians, the Philistines and Nimrod.

We note that although Ham's line was cursed, God still loved them, it was their deeds he did not like.

God cast them out of the land because of their deeds. We take a look at their deeds because He told the Israelites, that if they decided to partake of their deeds, He would cast them out of the land too.

He told them not to walk in the ordinances of Egypt and Canaan but walk according to his ordinances. So although the other nations had laws and behaviors they found acceptable they were not to abide by them but abide by his laws.

So it's possible for God's people to be a nation within a nation.

Here are a few things they were told not to do.

Leviticus 18:6  'None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 18:7  The nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.

Leviticus 18:8  The nakedness of your father's wife you shall not uncover; it is your father's nakedness.

Leviticus 18:9  The nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or elsewhere, their nakedness you shall not uncover.

We review the entire list noting that God said, because of these behaviors the land was defiled. And whoever commits these abominations, the persons shall be cut off from among their people.

The fact that He said," persons" reveals each person plays and important part in the nations sanctification. If he could have found 10 righteous people, he would have spared Sodom and Gomorrah. He couldn't even find 10 righteous people in the days of Noah.

Do you think he can find 10 righteous people on earth today?

We thank God for his mercy because although he couldn't find 10 in Nineveh he spared the city, founded by Nimrod, the son of Cush, the son of Ham.

God sent Jonah to preach to the citizens of Nineveh, knowing they WOULD repent. His heart was broken because of their sins because he said, the city was filled with people who didn't know their right hand from their left hand.

It seems as if ignorance had over taken their society and it broke his heart.

He knew why they were sinning, they were sinning out of ignorance, they simply did not know any better.

Again, the people of Nineveh were sinning out of ignorance and not out of a hard heart.

Perhaps the same has occurred in our own nation, people sin out of ignorance, they don’t know any better, they don't know their right hand from their left hand, because there has been a famine in the preaching of God’s word. Another gospel has been preached instead of the gospel of Jesus Christ and once that changes, people will repent, they will turn from their wicked ways and God will heal our land.

The people in Nineveh repented and avoided God’s judgment for over 150 years.
