In this episode we continue studying the Book of Exodus. In this episode Bezaleel made the altar for burnt offerings.

We were told in chapter 29 that burnt offerings would occur daily. Day by day, continually. One lamb offered in the morning and one lamb offered in the evening.

We note that the sacrificial lamb would be mingled with flour. Webster’s says, mingle means to blend to unite into one body. The body of the lamb would be mingled or united with flour.

The flour is symbol of God’s people, his church. Christ would mingle himself, with each one of them and give them His Holy Spirit. If they obeyed the Holy Spirit, they would no longer be led by the unholy spirit and counted as children of disobedience. Christ would enable them to become sons and daughters of the Most High God.

The silver for the atonement offering was also collected and counted. Each male tribal member gave a half shekel of silver We were told in chapter 20 the silver was for the ransoming of their soul.

Here’s the text:

Exodus 30:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Exodus 30:12 When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.

The silver represents, Christ, no soul can be ransomed or redeemed without Christ. No soul will be allowed in God’s kingdom without Him.

We cannot enter into heaven based on our own merit, so the righteousness of Christ has been imputed unto us. So we can be numbered or counted as a child of God.

Jesus had to be numbered or counted with us so we could be counted with Him. He had to be numbered and counted as a transgressor to receive the death penalty we deserved. Because he was punished for us we don't have to be.

The work Christ performed on the cross, was extremely difficult but he did it because He loved us.

We note that the sockets upon which the vail hung were made of silver. The AHLB says, silver was a metal desired for its value and universally used as a form of money. And since it was highly valued and desired it came to mean, to desire, to long for, to yearn or long after.

This pictures God’s love for his people, it pictures his desire to be with them.

He loved and desired to be with them always. His love would endure forever, for all times, for all people, throughout all generations.

He would surrender himself into the hands of his enemies, they would kill Him. But his death would only be temporary and so would their’s.

Death would loose it’s sting. They would live together forever.

So He told them in Luke chapter 22 starting at verse 14.

Luke 22:14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

Luke 22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

Luke 22:16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

Luke 22:17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

Luke 22:18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Luke 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
