In this episode we continue studying the Book of Exodus. In this episode we note that Moses a type of Christ, carries the bones of Joseph out of Egypt. Joseph’s bones will be buried in the Promised Land.

Here God, reveals, that our lives are in Jesus’ hands after we die. That although we die and are buried on earth, we will inherit the promised land, we will inherit eternal life.

In this chapter, God commands the firstborn of man and beast to be sanctified, that is, set apart for him. He claimed them as his own and said “they are mine.”

The firstborn child had to be redeemed with a Lamb. A donkey was also commanded to be redeemed with a lamb, if it wasn't redeemed the neck had to be broken, it had to die.

Every household had donkey, it was their mode of transportation and it was used to carry heavy burdens from place to place.

Donkey’s were known to be stubborn and known for their unbridled lust. God occasionally compared the children of Israel to female donkeys in heat, when it came to their idolatry and the practices involved with worshipping certain idols.

This has figurative meaning, in order to be sanctified, the donkey had to be redeemed by a lamb. If it wasn’t going to be redeemed it had to die. If it wouldn’t humble its stiff neck and surrender its lustful nature to the Lord it had to die.

We must all surrender our lusts and desires to Christ. We must all be redeemed by the Lamb or we will die in our sins and trespasses.

Paul said, It is God's will for us to be sanctified, that we should abstain from fornication.

Here's the text:

1Thessalonians 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

1Thessalonians 4:2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

1Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

1Thessalonians 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

1Thessalonians 4:5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

We also note that, Jesus the Lamb of God asked God to sanctify us through the truth, God’s word is truth. (John 17:17)

He also said, that those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in the truth. (John 4:24)

If we are going to worship God in spirit and in truth and if we are going to be sanctified by the truth, we must know the word of God.

And the word says, we are sanctified by keeping God’s statutes. That in keeping the statutes God sanctifies us. In this arrangement, God works with Man and Man works with God.

Leviticus chapter 20 verses 7 and 8 says:

Leviticus 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you.

God led the children of Israel by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of cloud by night.

The word of God, his laws and statutes are the pillars of clouds and fire that will lead us to the eternal promised land and comfort us in this world as we make our pilgrimage.

David said, he loved the commandments, he delighted in them, so he meditated on them. God's word quickened him, it gave him life and filled him with hope, in times affliction.

Here’s the text:

Psa 119:47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

Psalms 119:48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Psalms 119:49 ZAIN. Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

Psalms 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
