Listen to Amanda's conversation with Xabiso Vili! Having won the Poetry Africa 2021 Slam Jam competition, Xabiso Vili will be representing South Africa at the World Poetry Slam Championship 2022 in Brussels. He is a multi-award winning writer, performer, social activist, new media artist, applied theatre practitioner and producer obsessed with how to use innovative creativity for healing and therapy. Most recently, he created the Augmented Reality exhibition “Re/Member Your Descendants” which examines how young South Africans relate to their ancestors and descendants. This premiered in Paris at the NewImages Festival, alongside his first Projection Mapping installation “Chosi Chosi”, as well as at the Fak’ugesi Festival in Johannesburg. As a Future Africa Grant recipient, he will also be creating his first 360 degree film, "Black Boi meets Boogeyman", where he examines how to turn toxic masculinity into compassionate masculinity.
