Arrested Development lyrics aren’t just lyrics when they write a song. I fell in love with the group’s song, Tennessee right away. A number one R&B single which was released back in 1992.
The lyrics have words that seem to be about me when they say: Lord, I’ve really been stressed, down and out, losing ground. Take me to another place, take me to another land. Make me forget all that hurts me, let me understand your plan.
That’s what some of us are trying to do in this - this new era with all the lock- downs and changes. We are trying to understand the Lord’s plan. So many people are leaving this world. I don’t want to die, but I don’t want to stay here in all this mess. I don’t have a problem with the Lord coming back.
Arrested Development is not an ordinary rap group. They sing about you and I. Their words have meaning. They tell a story. You don’t have to be a gospel singer to tell it like it is. Tennessee was one of the group’s rap songs that touched me. Their song means more now than ever. Arrested Development is writing, rapping,and singing life’s song. But for me, it’s about the Kingdom. For the group, it was about Tennessee. Different songs mean different things to people. A song can mean one thing to you and another thing to me. The song Tennessee has a whole lot of meaning. (Singing)
Go back and listen to the song and think about what’s happening. If you can’t see and feel this world slowly coming to a close, something is wrong. It’s not getting better. It’s getting worse. The Lord is talking to us. These are the last days no matter how long this world has been here. Get prepared and be ready to go to another place. No matter how far the day may seem. Always be ready. Take me to another place. That day is coming believe it or not.
