First Steps Kent. According to a new analysis, 20,500 early childhood education slots are needed in Kent County to address our community’s childcare needs in Kent County. Jennifer “Split by more than the Grand River” The
analysis by IFF, a nonprofit lender,
shows that the shortage of affordable child care is most severe in communities of color and that many low- and middle-income families are paying more for early childhood education than they can afford even as child care providers operate with small margins that make it difficult to stay open. First Steps Kent echoed the findings of the analysis as many households in Kent County struggle to find affordable, quality child care.
