This episode came at a perfect time for me. I have been unknowingly struggling with orthorexia for years now, and I definitely agree with Jake that it ties into a sense of wanting to control (ultimately, death). I have tried so many perfect diets from Paleo, to strict zero-sugar, to vegan and then to the other extreme of "healing" with sugars and saturated fats through pro-metabolic eating. And when a diet didn't fix everything, well then I must not be adherring to it strictly enough. When really, as this brilliant episode pointed out, it is a mental issue - a nervosa. This was incredibly healing to listen to and gave me plenty to sit with and meditate on.
