The doctrine of Hell - everything we know and learn - comes from the lips of Jesus Himself. He spoke frequently about Hell, so the church must take it seriously. But the whole idea of Hell - an eternal punishment at the hands of a just and loving God - is so profoundly difficult for us to handle emotionally, that the only person who can convince us of the reality of such a place is Jesus.
