Welcome to Musicians Tip Jar where we talk about musicians and money. Where we enjoy regular quiet bike rides to destress from the business environment of so much noise. I’m your host Chris Webb joined by my co-host and man whose bike gear even shifts to 11, Dave Tamkin.

Quote:
In this business…”you don’t have to be the greatest guitar player if you can outwork them” - Andy Rok

Following your path doesn’t ever really look anything like you think it will when starting with ambition. But in every story we get the privilege to hear that it's always having the drive and focus behind their ambition that guides musicians to their success. Today we get to share a seriously amazing story of that ride to success with our guest Andy Rok

YOUTH ON RECORD:
They are committed to ensuring that the youth they serve graduate from high school and are ready to enter the workforce, and transition to college or enter advanced technical training and careers. Their programs empower 3,000 teens in some of Denver/Aurora's most vulnerable communities to make life choices that positively impact their future by teaching them to develop the coping tools, inspiration, and wherewithal to succeed in today’s world and to become leaders of tomorrow. Andy “Rok” Guerrero is a platinum selling producer, songwriter, musician and educator from Denver CO. Grinding, promoting, and gigging all over his home state of Colorado. He Formed the horn driven funk outfit Bop Skizzum, a mainstay and staple of the Denver music scene. In 2004, he co-founded the socio-political Hip Hop troupe Flobots whose platinum selling single “Handlebars” earned them a record deal with Universal Republic Records in 2008. The band’s success allowed Guerrero to tour, playing hundreds of shows in sold out venues throughout the continental US and overseas. They appeared on the Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien, and Carson Daly. After having the opportunity to work with super producer Mario Caldato Jr. (Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson) on the second Flobots album in 2010, Andy caught the production bug.
