This podcast about food has been very helpful and thought-provoking. According to Exodus 16 manna tastes like wafers with honey. Maybe when prepared as described in Num 11 it tastes like olive oil, but seems unlikely. As you discussed God gives us much pleasure from food but it can also have a bland or subdued taste.
