This podcast is a visit with Brazos County tax assessor-collector Kristy Roe and WTAW's Bill Oliver.

More than 117,000 Brazos County property tax statements are going out in the mail this week.

For the last two weeks, tax assessor-collector Kristy Roe says her office has been fielding calls from property owners wanting to know the amount of their tax bills.

The fastest way to get that information is to go online to brazostax.org and to sign up for e-mail alerts.

Roe says if the system does not allow you to sign up for 2020 statement alerts, that means the information is already on the website.

Another option for detailed information is to wait for your property tax bill to come in the mail and scan the Q-R code that is on the top right hand corner of your statement.

Brazos County property owners are also reminded of payment deadlines. The 2020 property taxes are due on or before January 31, 2021 unless the taxpayer participates in any payment plans available to them.

Roe says for those who want to exercise the option to pay their taxes in two equal payments, the first payment is due on or before November 30, 2020, and the second payment can then be made anytime on or before June 30, 2021.
