This podcast contains comments from Bryan ISD consulting architect James Halliburton during the October 5, 2020 BISD school board meeting.

The Bryan school board continues to move ahead with plans if voters approve a $175 million dollar bond issue on November 3rd.

The four board members attending the October 5 meeting approved the design of renovating the Stephen F. Austin school annex.

The board was told the annex exterior will look like the remainder of the SFA renovation and expansion that was approved by voters in 2014.

Architect James Halliburton says there will be a complete demolition of the annex interior. One of the reasons is saving money when a fire sprinkler system is installed.

The proposed project also includes new restrooms on both floors of the SFA annex.

The BISD board will consider later this month, the process of selecting the general contractor. Again subject to voters approving the bond issue, the board was asked to consider selecting a construction manager at risk and not selecting a general contractor based on submitting bids.
