Elisha sends a prophet to anoint Jehu king over Israel and the prophet prophecies that he is to cut off the house of Ahab according to the word of the Lord because of their wickedness. Jehu rides in haste immediately and slays Joram and then proceeds to Jezrael to slay Queen Jezabel the wife of Ahab.
