2 Thessalonians 3 is primarily focused on two major themes: idle behavior and the work ethic of believers in Jesus Christ. In this chapter, the Apostle Paul deeply urges believers to contribute to society via useful labor, specifically reminding them that those who did not labor should not eat either. This often misquoted verse addresses the apostle's rebuking the idleness and slothfulness of some in the Thessalonian church community. Moreover, he exhorts the congregation to stay away and not be affiliated with those who refused to work, as their behavior compromised the witness of the church. Paul's message in this chapter is that believers are to keep themselves busy and to do good works for the sake of the gospel of Christ.
