2 Thessalonians 1 teaches about the ultimate triumph of the gospel and the assurance that the righteous will be rewarded while the unrighteous will receive judgment. The chapter is basically a short introduction that includes a greeting, thanksgiving, and words of encouragement to the church at Thessalonica. Paul is thankful for the growth of their faith and encourages them to persevere in the face of persecutions and trials.
In this chapter, Paul reassures the Thessalonians that God will one day come in judgment to punish those who do not acknowledge Him, while at the same time rewarding those who have been faithful. Paul prays that the name of the Lord Jesus is glorified, and encourages the Thessalonians to keep themselves worthy of God's calling by their faith, work, and love.
