In August of 2016, Fallon Smart was struck and killed by a driver on Hawthorne Blvd who did not immediately stop after the crash. She was just a few weeks shy of her 16th birthday. The young man arrested and accused of the hit-and-run that killed Smart was Abdulrahman Sameer Noorah, a student from Saudi Arabia. Before he could stand trial, he disappeared, likely with the help of the Saudi government.
