The College Station city council has approved extending its geographic footprint from three and a half to five miles.

The city's expanded ETJ...or extraterritorial jurisdiction...gives College Station annexation authority to expand further into south Brazos county along with portions of Burleson and Grimes counties.

There was no discussion before Thursday night's 6-0 vote.

Councilmembers reached a consensus during a workshop on June 14th that also included directing staff to contact Grimes County about an ETJ development agreement similar to what College Station has with Burleson County, where the county is in charge of requests.

This file contains comments from College Station city council members and planning and development director Lance Simms.
