*Second dispute: Regarding the name of father of His Eminence Mahdi (a.s.)*

We shia believe that the name of the father of Imam Mahdi (atfs) is Imam Hasan Askari (as). There is however an isolated tradition related from the Ahle Sunnat scholars which mentions that the name of the father of Imam Mahdi(as) will be same as the father of Holy Prophet (sawa) and that is Abdullah(as)

Mirza Muhaddis Noori(ar) resolves this confusion in a scholarly way as follows.

He first establishes that majority of the reliable Ahle Sunnat traditional reports do not subscribe to the unfounded addition about the name of the father of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s). This isolated addition about the name of the father of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) is made by a lone person called 'Zaida'. The famous Ahle Sunnat scholar Hafiz Ganji Shafei and many others opine that 'Zaida' used to make spurious additions to traditions.

Secondly even if this isolated tradition from Ahle Sunnat sources is assumed to be correct yet it wouldn't lead to any dispute as a persons Kuniyat is also his name. And the Kuniyat of Imam Hasan Askari(as) as well as that of Janabe Abdullah (as) the honorable father of our Holy Prophet (sawa) is "Abu Mohammed".

So Imam Mahdi's (a.t.f.s) name is same as that of the Holy Prophet (sawa) and the Kuniyat of his father is same as the Kuniyat of the father of Holy Prophet (sawa)!
