We will all experience loss at some point in our lives but not everyone will know how to manage their grief and move forward with meaning and purpose. Faced with compounded heartache by the untimely death of several loved ones as well as a myriad of other losses, Lisa Gallate embarked on a journey of self-healing and renewal.
Her memoir, Just Because, acts as a measure of wisdom on the often unspoken but universal topics of depression, suicide, miscarriage, and chronic illness.
Lisa Gallate first experienced the loss of her sister and her sister’s partner in a shocking car accident, followed by her husband’s premature death by suicide, the inspirational but short life of her brother who died of brain cancer, the death of her father to COVID-19, and the prolonged demise of her mother from Alzheimer’s Disease.
These events could happen to any of us, at any time, and how we manage them and continue to live our lives with intent is one of life’s greatest challenges.
Within Lisa’s story she articulates the approaches she has taken throughout her own journey, providing guidance to others who are faced with emotional despair. Just Because is a self-help memoir infused with unwavering accounts of how, in times when all sense of meaning may feel lost, you can manage your emotional anguish to reshape and renew your life.
These candid pages offer comfort, warmth, honesty, hope and humour, as well as strategies for healing in the belief that loss and grief will change your life, but they do not need to define it.
