In this episode, Cassandra Vonnes, DNP, GNP-BC, APRN, AOCNP, CPHQ, FAHA, a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and member of the GAPNA Communication Team, talks with Jennifer Kim, DNP, GNP-BC, GS-C, FNAP, FAANP, a certified gerontological nurse practitioner and professor of nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and the current president of GAPNA.

Dr. Kim discusses polypharmacy; results from the SHED-Meds study, which tested a deprescribing intervention of older hospitalized patients; and the relevancy of shared decision-making in the process of deprescribing medications.

Jennifer Kim, DNP, GNP-BC, GS-C, FNAP, FAANP, is a certified gerontological nurse practitioner and professor of nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Kim also maintains a clinical practice in a post-acute and long-term care setting and is the current President of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association.

Cassandra Vonnes, DNP, GNP-BC, APRN, AOCNP, CPHQ, FAHA, is the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Coordinator, Geriatric Oncology, at the Moffitt Cancer Center, in Tampa, Florida.
