This makes sense as Tolkien was a firm believer in christianity, so we see his faith influencing his stories and works, even though he hated allagory.

The Nicene Creed describes the Holy Spirit as the "Lord and Giver of Life." This includes non-Christian Life, animal and vegetable. The Secret Fire is not incompatible with Medieval Christian theology's vision of the Holy Spirit, which is tied very firmly to the Nicene Creed (~325 A.C.E.). In Eastern Christian theology, the term Uncreated Light sounds eerily similar to "Flame Imperishable" from the Silmarillion.
