This clip can be summarized as: "Why Ahlus-Sunnah Love Shaykh Rabee' ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee, and Why the Deviant Rebel Khawaarij Hate Him"

Shaykh Rabee' (may Allaah preserve him) exposes the falsehood loaded into a fake story championed by the Khawaarij Cults of this era, that Salmaan once openly refused to obey 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab because of an assumed incident of minor injustice. The shaykh dismantles the story and explains how it is absolutely rejected from six angles. May Allaah reward him and preserve him.

This excerpt was taken from class #47 of our "Sharhus-Sunnah" course taught by Moosaa Richardson at Masjid Ibn Mas'oud in Cleveland, Ohio (USA) on 1438.10.17.

For the possible benefit of myself and others, I typed some notes on the first half of this clip: Shaykh Rabee' said: Ibn Qutaybah said in his book called 'Uyoon al-Akhbaar: "al-'Utbi said (228 AH) 'Umar had sent to him some war booty that was two-peice garments and he distributed those things among the people. He went up on the Minbar and he had a complete set himself (both pieces). So he said "Oh people, will you not listen?" So Salmaan said: "We will not listen!" 'Umar asked "Why father of 'Abdullaah [meaning Salmaan]!?" He said "because you distributed the garments to us, one garment for each person and you have a whole set." He said "Don't be so hasty oh Abu 'Abdullah." So he called out "Oh, 'Abdullaah!" Nobody answered him. So he said "Oh 'Abdullah bin 'Umar!" He said "At your service of commander of the faithful!" He said "I ask you to swear by Allaah as a witness. Is the thobe that I'm wearing as a Izaar (the lower part), is it yours?" He said "Allaahummaa Na'am." Salmaan, may Allaah be pleased with him, said, "So now it's ok. We will obey." Shaykh Rabee' continues: This is how al'Utbi narrated this without any chain. And it's been mentioned in the sittings of dictation that were recorded from ibn Durayd, #132. In the same way, no chain. Ibn al-Jawzaa also put it in his book: Sifatus Safwaa with no chain either. And so this myth is rejected from the following angles: The first is that it has no chain from al-'Utbi to 'Umar and Salmaan, may Allaah be pleased with both of them. There is vast space that exists that is between the time of 'Umar and Salmaan and this 'Utbi. You would break the necks of camels trying to make that distance. The second is that this 'Utbi is unknown. And those who collected this story from those who've been mentioned, ibn Qutayba, ibn Durayd, ibn Jawzee, they did not even mention his name or his lineage except 'Utbi. Even if you know who al-'Utbi was, there's no value (since he is still unknown). The third is that it's an obligation that we exonerate 'Umar, Salmaan, and the companions of Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) from this methodology of Chaos that is found in this story, that in which is opposition to the prophetic methodology and the Quranic methodology as it related to the obligation of obeying the people in charge so long as they pray. So if that's the case, then what about 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab, the one who filled the entire earth with justice?
