  • Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket

25 JUL 2013 · Glen Phillips is the front man of the multi-platinum band, Toad the Wet Sprocket, who have brought us such Billboard-charting hits as “Walk on the Ocean”, “All I Want”, “Something’s Always Wrong”, and “Fall Down", and they're releasing their first new album in 16 years, "New Constellation" with the help of a very successful Kickstarter campaign started on June 5 and ending on August 4th. facebook.com/toadthewetsprocketmusic Twitter @ToadWetSprocket Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/toadthewetsprocket/new-studio-album-from-toad-the-wet-sprocket?ref=popular Toad the Wet Sprocket*, the band famed for such Billboard-charting hits as “Walk on the Ocean”, “All I Want”, “Something’s Always Wrong”, and “Fall Down” has been back in the studio again, recording their first album together in 16 years. The same creative curiosity that inspired the band to form in 1986 and then to branch out in different directions in 1998 has brought them full circle to come back together again. As Glen Phillips put it, "At some point we would play shows and remember not why we'd broken up, but why we got together in the first place. That made it possible and exciting to move forward again." The result is *New Constellation**, *an album of new material produced by Mikal Blue and being released on the band’s label, Abe’s Records, September 3, 2013. Bassist, Dean Dinning says, "The idea to make this record was born out of the fact that we are really enjoying playing live together again- and adding new songs into the set just makes it that much better.” Phillips added, "We've all been making music outside of the band for a while now. It's amazing to get back together and incorporate all we've learned in the last years but immediately hear the sonic signature that is essentially Toad re-emerge." The band’s first single from the album and title track *“New Constellation”*premiered on *Rolling Stone*’s site June 5th, 2013. In a statement about the track, Glen Phillips said, “After not having recorded as Toad the Wet Sprocket for over 16 years, we finally decided to make a new record for our fans. "New Constellation" was the very first new song written specifically for the band. After a decade in the folk/singer/songwriter world it was exciting to write with the band in mind. I wanted come up with material that would respect our origins but also respect everything we'd learned in the intervening years. The lyric veers from outer space to patron saints to depression to heroic gestures of love in a quick three minute pop song. We hope you like it.” Click here to hear “New Constellation” on RollingStone.com: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/toad-the-wet-sprocket-find-a-new-constellation-song-premiere-20130605 This release is the first time the band is going independent, which is why Toad has called their fans to action through a Kickstarter Campaign which will help to fund the final stages of recording and releasing of the album. The immediate goal set for $50,000 over the course of 60 days was reached in under 24-hours on June 5th, 2013, and is now funding at over 200% the goal after 15 days and counting. In the words of Glen Phillips, "We started out a teenage garage band, recording our first two records on our own and then licensing them to the Columbia label. The music world has changed a great deal since then, but brought us back to the indie world. We are once again an unsigned band, and that offers us great flexibility and a chance to avoid some of the pitfalls of a traditional record deal. Through our Kickstarter campaign we will be able to launch the new record independently, directly to and funded by those who care most about our music. Perhaps we'll partner with a company later on, but for now we are more than happy to have this be between us and our fans.” Read more about the Kickstarter Campaign on *Billboard.com* (http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/1567367/toad-the-wet-sprocket-caught-off-guard-by-fan-support-for-new-album) and stay tuned for further details surrounding the release. Toad will be touring throughout the year, and continuing into 2014.

  • Tiffany Krumins of AVA Elephant Brand

22 JUL 2013 · Tiffany Krumins is the CEO, Co-founder and inventor of the AVA the Elephant brand. AVA the Elephant is a talking children's medicine dispenser that takes the fear and axiety out of administering medicine to children 3 months and older. Tiffany's passion for helping sick children has been evident through her years of experience working with kids, including children with special needs and childhood cancer patients. It was that same passion which brought Ava the Elephant to life! She realized no product on the market resolved the common problem of giving children medicine, minus the tears. So she took matters into her own hands and created the first Ava from sponges, fabric, and a store bought medicine dropper. After her life changing experience on ABC's "Shark Tank" she went home and spent months perfecting AVA to make sure she was as safe as she was helpful. She found that it was not necessarily children's dislike for medicine that made it so difficult. After all, they can flavor it to taste like bubblegum these days! The process was the scary part. Realizing this, her first goal was to hide the medicine dropper completely! Her second was to make the child smile or laugh, hence the sweet voice! And last, but not least, she wanted their new little friend to praise them for a job well done! In a twist of fate, Tiffany was diagnosed with cancer three months after the show (at the age of 28) which made her passion to help sick children even stronger! Tiffany was considered one of the Top 50 Mompreneurs of 2011 by Babble.com! She was a panelist at Troy Johnson's SPark and Hustle event as well as a panelist at Mom's in Business Unite. With mentions on Youngentrepreneur.com, Mominventors.com and many others, she has been coined the "Modern Day Mary Poppins". AVA the Elephant received the Certified Miracle Award in 2011! AVA the Elephant is available in more than 10,000 retail stores in the U.S.A., including CVS Pharmacy, Kroger, Safeway, BabiesRUs.com, Drugstore.com, Amazon.com, and Walgreens.com and many more. AVA the Elephant is also sold in multiple languages and internationally in Canada, Mexico, Australia, Europe, and parts of Asia.
