Listen in to find out what has changed (not much to be honest) in travel over the last five years.

  • John Guinn Travel Show - 22nd June 2017

22 JUN 2017 · My show is recorded on Tuesdays for broadcast on Thursdays. So sometimes I appear to be following others with my news, where is fact at the time of the recording I was ahead of the game. False holiday illness claims were first covered on my show by my guest Frank Brehany back in January. He had been warning about this years before then. It is now the hot topic in the travel trade so we revisit it this week. Of course, the day after the show was recorded Abta made a big announcement about how it wants this problem to be handled. But as Frank mentioned back in January, the travel trade could have been taking steps to reduce these claims without having to call on the government to do something. Also covered by Frank is price comparison websites, BA's little IT problem and what airlines should provide if you are delayed or denied boarding and cabin air quality. Again, after the show was recorded another big announcement was made about this. Not my week, is it? Finally, Travel Supermarket has researched the history of package holidays, the travel writer James Ellis discusses what was found. He also gives a great story about his first ever package holiday. Emma Coulthurst from Travel Supermarket explains how this price comparison website monitors its suppliers to ensure that customers are not misled. She also has some holiday ideas for those looking for a cheap summer holiday.

15 JUN 2017 · Consumer rights in the EU and Antigua are featured on this week's show. Adam Mortimer from the UK European Consumer Centre (UKECC) is first up. Adam talks about the organisation annual report. Nearly 17,000 consumers contacted UKECC in 2016, which is an increase of 18% on the previous year. Adam talks about timeshares/holiday clubs, flight delays and car hire. Also covered is the purchase of goods, both in store and online. Listen to Adam to find out what to look out for and how to get help if something goes wrong with your EU holiday or shopping. There is more advice on the ECC-Net: Travel app. Useful at home as well as away. My second guest is Colin James, CEO Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. I recorded the interview in Antigua back in 2012. It is one of my favourite destinations and I can't wait to get back there. Find out why it is such a great place to visit for a holiday. Once you are there you need somewhere to stay. The final interview is with Gerald Christ, who at the time was the manager at Sandals Grande Antigua. I had a look around and I was surprised about all that was on offer.

The Province of Ontario is located in the east central Canada, and is one of 10 provinces and three territories that makes up the country. 25 MAY 2017 · 'But I'm on holiday' is a common cry when a UK traveller is arrested. Being on holiday is not an excuse for breaking the local laws. According to research, a quarter of British drivers break the local motoring laws when abroad. Kieran Mitchell, from the legal firm Slater and Gordon, runs through the top ten laws drivers should be aware of. If you hire a car you are responsible if the car is not road legal. After Kieran shares his legal info, I give advice on hiring cars and how you can take action should there be an issue when the vehicle is returned.
