Good morning, East Central Florida! This is your local coastal waters forecast, brought to you by the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Today, we've got a cold front moving through, bringing some showers and isolated storms along the way. So, keep those umbrellas handy if you're heading out on the water. Behind this front, we can expect fresh to strong northwest to north winds ramping up, leading to some choppy conditions out there. So, make sure your sea legs are on, folks!

For all you sailors and boaters, we've got the Gulf Stream hazards to watch out for. Winds will be picking up to 20 to 25 knots, with occasional gusts up to 35 knots this afternoon, and seas building up to 6 to 8 feet. So, batten down the hatches and ride those waves with caution.

As we head into the weekend, conditions will gradually improve with winds and seas calming down. Saturday looks like a good day for some smooth sailing with southeast winds at 5 to 10 knots and seas around 3 to 5 feet.
