In this episode we continue studying the Book of Leviticus. In this episode, God gave Moses more instructions regarding trespass offerings, peace offerings and vows.

The people are told to eat their offerings on the first or second day. If anyone ate their offering on the 3rd day it was an abomination.

It was God's policy not to delay presenting or partaking of offerings. As revealed in Exodus chapter 22.

Heres’ the text:

Exodus 22:29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

Strong’s says, delay means, to loiter, be behind, to procrastinate, continue, defer, hinder, be late, slack.

Some may have not eaten their sacrifice during the allotted time because they were procrastinators, slack, or negligent.

Delay may also represent those who make the decision to follow Christ, but they put it off because other duties get in the way or for some reason they start looking back wondering if they made the right decision to follow Christ or not, so being double minded they fail to make progress in the things of God.

Strongs says, double minded means, two spirited, that is, in opinion or purpose. Mounce adds inconstant and fickle.

Thayer’s adds, uncertain, doubting, divided in interest.

Our service to God must be without delay or double mindedness. Having "two minds" doesn't produce a sound mind and is contrary to having the mind of Christ, who only wanted to do one thing and that was the will of God.

The people are told the offerer had to bring his own offering. He could not send someone else to make an offering for him.

So we are reminded of the fact that we are responsible for our own Salvation and our own obedience to the word of God.

We are not responsible for the sins and souls of other people. When Moses wanted to take the sins of the people upon himself, and have the Lord blot his name out of his book for the sake of the people. God said, No, whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Salvation is a personal issue and scripture tells us to take heed to the word of God for ourself and to save ourself from this untoward generation.

The people are also told that the breast and shoulder of the offerings belong to the priest.

We note that the priests will not inherit land like the other tribes because the Lord was their portion.

Each tribe received land and would occupy various territories in Canaan. They would receive vast estates, houses filled with good things, wells they didn’t dig, olive trees and vineyards they did not plant.

Here's the text:

Deuteronomy 6:10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,

Deuteronomy 6:11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

Deuteronomy 6:12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

We note that the priests portion was better than those who inherited land, because their portion extended beyond this life.

The one’s who received land, their inheritance, pertained to this life only. With God being their inheritance, we are shown that the priests inheritance extended beyond this earthly life and into the next.

God is the God of life, and since they had God, they had life and immortality.

The rest of the people had life but their portion or inheritance was all about this world but if they lived and became a nation of priests, God would become their inheritance or portion too.

God revealed from the beginning that eternal life was his to give and he gave it to those who walked with him.

We are told that Enoch walked with the Lord and then he was not for God took him.

Elijah also walked with God and God took him up into the heavens by a whirlwind.

If we walk with God in this life, if we possess Jesus Christ, we have eternal life and immortality, as noted in 1 John chapter 5 verse 12.

Here's the text:

1John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

And Paul noted one day these mortal bodies will put on immortality. Here’s the text:

1Corinthians 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
