Yes, we had to scrap our planned chat on Elaine May’s Mikey and Nicky (Mike just couldn’t stomach it), but that means we get to dive straight into William Shatner swaggering his way through one of the great villain roles of the NBC years. Chris can’t help but heap praise on Shatner’s performance as ego-fueled actor Ward Fowler, while Mike wrestles with the episode’s meta conceit, its TV-within-TV layers, and Peter Falk’s always-dependable rumpled brilliance.

Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-shabby-detective-yet-another-columbo-podcast--5084441/support.</itunes:summary><itunes:duration>2833</itunes:duration><itunes:keywords>1976+television,bernard+kowalski,chris+stachiw,columbo+analysis,columbo+fade+in+to+murder,columbo+guest+stars,columbo+season+six,columbo+villains,elaine+may,jackson+gillis,lt+columbo,meta+television,mike+white,mikey+and+nicky,nbc+columbo,peter+falk,shabby+detective,tv+detective,ward+fowler,william+shatner</itunes:keywords><itunes:explicit>false</itunes:explicit><itunes:image href="https://d3wo5wojvuv7l.cloudfront.net/t_rss_itunes_square_1400/images.spreaker.com/original/c1c80886b23f1874a5ae7d8eeb4fc04d.jpg"/><itunes:season>6</itunes:season><itunes:episode>1</itunes:episode><itunes:episodeType>full</itunes:episodeType>

Griffin & Phoenix (1976)

Not every Peter Falk performance comes with a rumpled coat and a homicide to solve.
