Of course, these proofs cannot stretch back endlessly. There must be a starting point—an unproven axiom. That starting point is the notion of the point. The system of proofs that we call geometry is based on the notion of the point; yet the notion of the point is unproven. Some things are simply self-evident. To deny them is to contradict ourselves and we talk nonsense.
