Seventeen year old Norman Ladner loved spending his free time on his family's land. He would walk through the 122 acre plot, exploring the open pastures and dense forestry. Fishing and hunting were two of his favorite activities, but on the night of August 21st, 1989, Norman didn't come home.

After searching for over an hour, Norman's father made the terrible discovery of his son's body. Norman had died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and while investigators initially considered it an accidental shooting, the final ruling was suicide. Unable to accept this, Norman's parents began an investigation of their own.

Over the next several weeks, the Ladner's discovered a blood stained bullet, too large for their son's rifle, a radio transmitter they were told was often used by drug smugglers and were even threatened by an unknown individual not to reopen the case.

What happened to Norman Ladner, was this a tragic case of a teenager taking his own life, a terrible accident or a case of homicide either covered up, or poorly investigated? Join host Steven Pacheco as he examines the details of this disturbing and complex case.

Lawrence Lumpkins cousin John Doe told his wife Jane Doe (my sister) all about it. It was a cover up. They were growing pot and Norman stumbled up on them. Lumpkin himself didn't shoot Norman, but one of his many cronies did. I used to see Lawrence Lumpkin at dog fights. He was into bad stuff. I contacted Pearl River Co. Many years ago and was blown off. They told me it was a suicide and I said no I'm telling you it wasn't. I called many different police departments in other counties because wasn't sure of Normans name nor area of pot fields that Lawrence had hand in. I know of a few locations from early 1990's they used to use, people associated with Lumpkin. John Doe had his wife thinking Hancock County so when I called Hancock Co. Police they knew nothing. Well had I known all the facts, and that is was in Pearl River County I would have put two and two together and could have solved this before Lawrence passed in 2007. I know names but will not say on here. Too close to home! Norman Ladner was murdered for what he saw. John Doe told Jane all about it, then of course any good sister is gonna tell other sister and well I've been quiet long enough.
