Why do people keep voting these awful politicians back in?

Judge Kavanaugh's nomination hearing was a circus. Democrats embarrassed themselves treating such a qualified, experienced candidate so poorly. Every Democrat announced that they would NOT vote to confirm him. So why are we putting him through the confirmation process and humiliation of Democrats berating him?
