Why does the mere mention of the Confederate Flag, even in a historical context, cause the Left to lose their liberal minds?

JPMorgan tells employees to change their "descriptors" to be more inclusive. No more husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends so as not to offend anyone, replace those words with "partner." What if my wife is offended when I don't refer to her as my "wife"? The language isn't inclusive. It just creates a new set of people to exclude and offend. You can't please everyone.
