World History and The Mystery of History Series
It’s important for us to know history, to learn from history and be inspired by history.  And as believers, isn’t God’s word a historical account?   History doesn’t need to be boring nor does teaching history ultimately have to be ineffective.  There are ways to develop a child’s interest in history and as a homeschool parent, you can even teach it without a background or knowledge of history yourself.  Our guest today, Linda Lacour Hobar, author of the Mystery of History series, a chonological, Christian, complete world history for all ages, is going to talk to us a little today about the importance of world history, developing our child’s interest in history and teaching history.

Linda Lacour Hobar, author of The Mystery of History, is a self-proclaimed “people-person” and a follower of Jesus Christ.  As a result of homeschooling her children, and serving the Lord as a missionary, she discovered a genuine love for the stories, the dramas, and the people that have shaped world history by the hand of God. In the year 2000, Linda sensed a clear call on her life to unleash her passion and write The Mystery of History series for her children and for generations to come.

In its 11th year of circulation, The Mystery of History has been well received by all ages!  While thought provoking, Linda’s writing style is warm and personable.  The “Chronological, Christian, Complete” program is user-friendly and includes activities for multiple ages, timeline work, mapping exercises, quizzes, games, literature lists, audio books, and much more to fully engage students of all learning styles.  The Mystery of History has been awarded “Best Homeschool History Resource” in 2012; Cathy Duffy’s “100 Top Picks”; Mary Pride’s “Practical Homeschooling Reader Award”; and The Old Schoolhouse “Excellence Award.”

A native-born Texan, Linda holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University, where she first fell in love with world history.  She presently resides with her family in Tennessee where she enjoys fitness and kayaking adventures with her husband Ron, and continues to research, write, and further her education.   Ron concurrently ministers to youth through “Intersect Sports” utilizing competition, instruction, and Christian discipleship to build the “total athlete.”  Be it through sports or world history, Ron and Linda strive to pour Biblical truths into families that are seeking to live for the Kingdom.
