Episode LXXVI (76): Tonight we leave the ACU of Texas Federal Credit Union studio in the historic Gemini Building down the street from the home of Human Spaceflight and head directly to where the cities of Friendswood and Pearland touch for a LIVE (7:30pm start time), on location, craft beer-powered broadcast, interview and conversation with Kris Szecsy, Caleb Wilson and Bianca Salazar of Bakfish Brewing. Just two weeks away from its three-day “Anniversary 4 Celebration” extravaganza March 6-8, Bakfish Brewing has been making a lot of noise in recent months with releasing as many or more new beers than any brewery on the scene. From last week’s ALL DAT GLITTERS King Cake Glitter Cream Ale to a new series of Milkshake IPAs (Moo-nicorn Orange & Raspberry, Moo-nicorn Banana Strawberry, etc.), a 10+% LeRoy Brown Ale, Lima Time Lager, Mango Peach Smoothie beer and series of kettle sours (Fish Face w/Raspberry and Ocean Water) among other releases, our calculations show the team at Bakfish have been averaging far better than a new beer a week since the calendar hit 2020. And there is no limit to the special events taking place at the Bakfish taproom from Girl Scout Cookie & Craft Beer Pairings to Murder Mystery Dinners to Pitmaster Classes to Books @ Bakfish events for kids to Home Brew Meet Ups to Star Wars Nights to Bakfish Running Club Social Runs and much more, it seems there are aways activities to compliment the new beers in the popular tap room. So we look forward to sitting down with the crew to get the scoop on how our brothers in brew with one of the largest brew house capacities and onsite taprooms in the region sees the future, what they have learned from the past and how they have pivoted to positioned themselves in the short term and beyond. We are really looking forward to it and if time allows, we will tease some of what is on tap this weekend in beer, music and space thanks to our friends at the SCENE Magazine including the Battle of the Bands Prelims #1 at the area’s newest music venue, the Yard at Barge 295, an ambitious new development and expansion for Texas’ only floating tavern, Barge 295, complete with full service bar, a giant stage over looking the lake, sand volleyball and corn hole courts and more. Plus, rumor past GCPH guest Joe Serrento and his band InDaSkies will be among the bands competing Saturday.
Also on Saturday down the street from our studio at Scout Bar, national act The Aggrolites is headlining a huge show with special guests Los Skarnales, The Skatastrophics, Heights Funk Collective & Vato Ruido Sound System. Thirsty yet? Then grab a brew and tune in to the Galactic Coast Power Hour at 7:30pm!! Tonight’s remote show will be streamed live at https://www.spreaker.com/show/galacticcoastpowerhour. The show will also be available on a range of networks, apps and platforms including Vinyl Draught Radio, iHeartRadio, Spotify, TuneIn, Player FM, Live 365, iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Google Play, SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, Cashbox, Deezer and Podcast Addict among others. Special thanks to the growing crew at The SCENE Magazine for supporting and streaming our show live as part of their expansion and for the development of our soon to be released Galactic Coast Power Hour mobile app for both IOS/Apple and Google/Android devices providing the easiest way to listen to us LIVE yet. We are proud to join the SCENEradio and SCENEstream family of dynamic content and new shows including Weekends On The Water, Drink Galveston, Between The Covers and Bay Area BizCAST among others. Cheers from your hosts the Discovery Channel’s “Galactic Guys” (John Ennis and Mighty Michael Taylor). Prepare for Liftoff!!
