Brian Crombie interviews Jad Jaber Jaber, founder and Executive Director of Marginalized Majority, and a Board member of Pride Toronto since January 2020, as well as a Member of the LGBTQIA2S+ Toronto Advisory Council. June is Pride Month and I was introduced to Jad, who has a Masters in HR Diversity and a Ph.D. where he studied homophobia in the Middle East, as someone who has a distinct and compelling story relevant to being Gay and an immigrant in Canada. Growing up in a country where homosexuality was illegal and being forced to leave the country, and now experiencing not only homophobia but racism and Islamaphobia, is clearly challenging.
