Tomika Reid was born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia as a single mom and self-published author. Tomika graduated from Automotive High School. She continued her education in Medical Billing. She also had a passion for doing hair and had dreams of opening up a beauty salon. Later on, she studied cosmetology at Empire Beauty School, in which she didn't complete due to child care.

Tomika has been through many trials and tribulations, she wanted to give up many times, yet she is Still Standing through the grace of God and her daughters. During Tomika's dark days, she turned to journaling and writing poetry. This was something she loved and enjoyed doing to ease the pain she had to endure. Writing was how she expressed herself, not knowing she would ever become an author.

Her first book, "Nicolli and the Shining Star" a children's book, to help a child cope with the loss of a loved one. Tomika self-published this book on behalf of her two daughters because they both lost their fathers. Not only did Tomika lose her daughters fathers, she also lost her mom, sister and grandmother too. Many people told Tomika her story needed to be told. After receiving confirmations to write her second book; a memoir titled "Beyond the tears I've cried here I am Still Standing" she went ahead and self-published this book to help, inspire and encourage others to never give up. Tomika wanted people to see that she was a living testimony who never gave up so they can be inspired and motivated to never give up too, and to also know, "You Are Not Alone."
