It's been a long flight but you're finally up and able to stretch your cramped legs as you make your way through the airport. As you're hurrying your way to baggage claim you hear a familiar name come over the loudspeaker. Duff McKagan? "Why the hell is Duff McKagan welcoming me to Seattle", you ask yourself. It's really beside the point, but odd nonetheless. "Is this the 'Seattle Sound' everyone has been talking about?", you wonder quietly in your head. Maybe it's Peugeot Sound? That would make more sense, at least to you.
You quickly find the nearest person that doesn't appear to be a tourist and ask them to help you find the "Seattle Sound"—of course you mean Peugeot Sound but he doesn't know that, and frankly at this point neither do you. "Seattle Sound"? The man replies with a confused look on his face."You mean like Nirvana?" he replies with heavy toned sarcasm in his voice. "No?" You reply, now even more confused. "Nirvana is a band, but what does that have to do with Seattle Sound?". "It's THE Seattle Sound, man" the man replies as he grows visibly irritated. "Look", the man says, "there is a record shop down the street, head there and when you get inside have them point you toward Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana—just to name a few". "Okay sounds good, thanks man" you reply in a hurried nervous voice. You part ways and from there you do just as he said, and from that day on, your life will never be the same.

There are more than a few critically acclaimed musical acts to hail from Seattle, but none that caused as much noise like the ones that developed their own grungy, dirty, heavy, and unique sound. Dubbed the "Seattle Sound", these bands created something new, something unlike everything else that was currently bleeding the airwaves dry at the time and they were able to pave their own lane into music history by doing so.

In this episode, we're joined by CJ from the PodAskew Podcast and we're talking all things Seattle, and all things music. With a heavy focus on Grunge and the "Seattle Sound", we have all come to know and love. Whether you consider yourself a fan of grunge music or not (you might even be a fan and not even know it), you're not going to want to miss this one. It's season two episode twelve of your favorite fish monger's favorite music podcast. Let's GO!
