A Fiordland tourist town's decision to move into daylight saving forever is gaining support.
When the country moves into daylight saving this weekend, Te Anau will be there for good.
Russell Alexander is the boss of Matamata-based tourist attraction Hobbiton.
He told Mike Hosking Te Anau's move is a good one.
"Other people would adjust to it. Yeah of course it’s a gimmick, and it’s a great idea and aren’t they trying to do 'slow down a bit and take your time, spend more time there?’"
The small Northland farming district of Ararua went the other way in the 1980s - refusing to adopt daylight saving for several years.
