Fatherhood is an adjustment for anyone, but for airline pilot and mountaineer Mike Allsop it meant finding a way to have it all – his family but also the thrill of extreme adventure.
And this is exactly what he did: from the age of seven, Mike’s children each go on one on one major expedition with their Dad, starting with a trek through the Himalayas.
Since then his 12-year-old daughter made the record for world’s highest stand up paddle board on a freezing lake at 5300 metres and his 15-year-old son has summitted Kilimanjaro.
Allsop has written about his and his children’s stories in a book ‘High Adventure’. He joined Andrew Dickens to discuss his family's unique tradition and how they give back to others.
