How many kids should you have? When should you avoid pregnancy and when should you be open to the possibility of another child? What do you do if you and your spouse are not on the same page when it comes to family size?

Even if you are not Catholic, you can find some value in the teachings of the Catholic Church, which are based on what the Bible says about God’s plan for marriage and families. The three key points are 1) Fertility and children are a blessing, 2) Every act of intercourse must remain open to the transmission of life, and 3) God is the master of life (and He has a plan for our family size)

If you find yourself discerning if you should be using natural family planning for avoiding or achieving pregnancy, here are some steps you can take:
Ask yourself, “Am I motivated by selfishness or by the Holy Spirit / God’s will?”
Read the Bible
Prayer - both alone and together as a couple
Ask for the Holy Spirit to guide you both
Be in community / seek wise counsel
Pray Mark 9:24 “I believe; help my unbelief!”

I am praying for you. I believe God has a plan for you and it is for your good and for His glory. Have a prayer request? Email me (emily@nfppharmacist.com) or send me a message on Instagram (@nfppharmacist)
