I received a call today notifying me that Ms Opal Lee from Fort Worth Texas will be coming to Cincinnati tonight to push the national observance of Juneteenth.
Her work is outlined in the following release:

Ms. Opal Lee Continues Her Juneteenth Walk in Cincinnati on Saturday November 16
CINCINNATI, OH (November 14, 2019) – Ahead of the fifth Democratic debate in Atlanta, 93-year-old Opal Lee of Fort Worth, TX is honing her message of a Juneteenth national holiday and adding more miles to her journey with a stop at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, OH on Saturday November 16 at 12 noon. Her motto “None of us are free until we are all free,” supports the mission of the museum which works to provide visibility to the stories of those who “challenge inequities to pursue greater freedom for their brothers and sisters.”
Four months after relaunching her walking campaign from 2016, she has walked in Detroit, MI, Williamsburg, VA, Rentiesville, OK, Galveston, TX, Jersey City, NJ, Birmingham, AL, Mount Bayou, MS, and Las Vegas, NV. Ms. Lee plans to continue her trek across the country to tell about the unifying affect Juneteenth can have to heal the nation and wants the dwindling field of 2020 Presidential hopefuls to know she has her sights set on them.
She kicked off the change.org online petition (the second phase of her awareness campaign) last month with a goal to garner 100,000 signatures to show Congress and the Administration the support for this across the country. Since turning 93, she acknowledges that time is of the essence and hopes that she will see legislation passed in both houses of congress in 2020 that updates US Code 36 which lists our national observances and holidays.
A board member of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF) since 1999, Mrs. Lee is giving it her all to ensure that the importance of Juneteenth as a unifying event is not forgotten. I guess I intially failed to say that she is 93 years old! She has walked to gain attention to the cause and her last walk will be across the bridge from the Freedom Center to Kentucky (symbolically). The walk will be on Saturday at 10:30. I do not believe that much publicity has been put out about her coming to Cincinnati, so I'm not sure how much support she is going to have during the walk. So I am trying to do my part in helping to get the word out. And if you are available on Saturday at 10:30 am, please join her in walking across the bridge.
