Todays Podcast is about a calculation question sent to me by a fella who wanted help on a single family dwelling calculation question he got our of an exam prep book. The question was poorly written but we answered it anyway.
Here was the question:

-Size: 1,050 square feet of living space, Service: 120/240 volt single-phase, Cooling: 1/3rd HP 120V cooler motor (air conditioning only), Heating: One 1/6 HP 120V furnace blower motor (heating only)
-Laundry: One clothes washer
-One 5 kW 240V clothes dryer
-Kitchen: One 9,5kW range
-One 1.9 kVA 120V dishwasher (1/3 HP motor)
-One 9 amp 120 V disposal
Do NOT use the "Optional" method.

a) 89 Amps b) 91 Amps c) 95 Amps d) 100 Amps
Now we know the minimum size service for a single family dwelling is 100A but that is not what the question asked.
