Greetings Micheal- The NEC is developed by people like you and others who submit public inputs and public comments. The NEC is simply a minimum safety standard. If someone disagrees with it they are charged with changing it. Everyone (anyone) can submit rationale for change if they feel strongly about change. As for me I happen to believe the NEC is well done and for electricians it helps keep people safe. The good news is that each cycle the members of the code panels try to make it easier to read. However, they work with items submitted by people like us who believe things need changing. Compared to other safety documents the NEC is actually well planned and informative. I hear you my friend and I encourage you to get involved but remember being a Electrician also means we have special skills and one of those is decyphering the National Electrical Code. Thank you again for listening and chiming in. Best Wishes.
