The guest host for today's show is Brad Bannon. Brad runs Bannon Communications Research, a polling, message development and media firm which helps labor unions, progressive issue groups and Democratic candidates win public affairs and political campaigns. His show, 'Deadline D.C. with Brad Bannon,' airs every Monday from 3-4pm ET.

Brad is first joined by Rocio Zamora, a Policy Advocate with the Youth Justice Coalition (YJC), which works to build an abolitionist, youth-led movement to end police terror, mass incarceration and criminalization of youth of color. Rocio is also a member of the 'STOP Police Terror Coalition of California,' which is a statewide Coalition of impacted family members whose loved ones were killed by law enforcement.

Brad and Rocio discuss re-imagining public safety by reforming the police forces of California and the entire United States.
There are two specific bills that Rocio and her organizations are working to help get passed in California, which could become models for the entire country.
Those two bills are California's 'SB-2' and 'AB-118.'  SB-2 would create a decertification process for rogue officers and is intended to give victims of police violence a better shot in civil court. AB-118, also known as the CRISES Act, would fund emergency response programs that are not handled by police.

The website for the Youth Justice Coalition (YJC) is youthjusticela.org and their Twitter handle is @YouthJusticeLA.  The Twitter handle for the 'STOP Police Terror Coalition of California' is @STOPCoalitionCA.

During the second half of the show, Brad is joined by Colonel Cedric Leighton, Founder and President of Cedric Leighton Associates, a strategic risk and leadership consultancy serving global companies and organizations.  He founded the company in 2010, after serving in the US Air Force for 26 years as an Intelligence Officer and attaining the rank of Colonel.

Brad and Colonel Leighton analyze what is causing the current conflict in the Gaza strip between the Israelis and the Palestinians, as well as what role the U.S. is playing in trying to broker a peace deal between the two sides. Colonel Leighton also explains the significance of the Colonial Pipeline hack here in the United States.

Colonel Leighton's website is CedricLeighton.com and his Twitter handle is @CedricLeighton.

Brad writes a political column every Sunday for 'The Hill.' He's on the National Journal's panel of political insiders and is a national political analyst for WGN TV and Radio in Chicago and KNX Radio in Los Angeles.
